Boiler repair

No heating or no hot water is never convenient. Tell me what is happening and I will tell you honestly what it sounds like and how soon I can get to you.

When to call

  • No heating, or heating that will not stay on.
  • No hot water, or hot water that runs cold partway through a shower.
  • A boiler that keeps losing pressure.
  • An error code you do not recognise, or a light flashing where it usually does not.
  • A banging, gurgling or whistling noise that started recently.

Exactly this kind of thing. A photo of the display often tells me most of what I need before I arrive.

What happens on the day

Before I arrive, I will ask what the boiler is doing and if you have a photo or video of the fault. This can often provide very helpful information as to which parts may be needed. When I arrive, I will carry out fault finding diagnostics and confirm what the problem is, which parts are required and how much the repair will cost. Most faults can be fixed within an hour.

Common questions

What will it cost to look at my boiler?

A flat rate of £110 for the first hour, £90 per hour thereafter excluding parts. Most breakdowns can be fixed within the first hour. However, where parts and/or additional time is required, this will be discussed before work commences.

What if it needs parts?

If I get to a job and find I need to order parts for a breakdown, I will advise the total cost of parts and labour to carry out the repair. If you agree to proceed, I will knock £20 off the initial hour.

What if it turns out not to be worth repairing?

I will tell you plainly. Sometimes a repair on an old boiler costs most of the way to a new one, and you are better off knowing that before you spend out on a repair.
